For more than 30 years, the Florida Council on Economic Education has recognized Florida educators for innovation and creativity in teaching economics, free enterprise and financial literacy. Open to K-12 educators in all 67 Florida school districts, the Governor’s Awards Program honors educators who have successfully taught these concepts by integrating them into everyday coursework. For over 10 years, the First Coast Business Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through their achievement in business, their leadership in community endeavors and their lifelong integrity. Florida Free Enterpriser of the Year
The Florida Council on Economic Education began the Free Enterpriser of the Year award in 1982 to annually recognize a Floridian who best exemplifies the free enterprise spirit, not only in the business world, but also in the community. It is hoped that through the recognition of these outstanding individuals, the mission of the Florida Council will be enhanced and the free enterprise system will be exhibited in its highest form for all of Florida’s citizens to emulate and perpetuate. Florida Economic Educator of the Year
For more than 30 years, the Florida Council on Economic Education has been preparing Florida’s young people to make sound, personal financial decisions and to assume productive roles in our free enterprise system. The Council has trained thousands of Florida teachers to teach students from Kindergarten through 12th grade to be financially savvy and to understand the underlying economic principles of personal financial management.
