NATIONAL FINAL COMPETITION – Kansas City, MO
May 2018
The Florida Finance Challenge (FFC) is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of personal finance by competing with other students across the state in multiple-choice and timed online examinations. Research has shown that student competitions increase participation, promote attendance, and help achieve higher grades and test scores. For teachers, the FFC provides a useful tool to help encourage students and generate excitement for classroom materials.
The preliminary or qualifying round of the FCC will be online. In the first round, each team of four students will complete online exams that cover topics in:
• Earning Income & Protecting and Insuring
• Using Credit & Buying Goods and Services
• Saving & Financial Investing
Teams log-in and students have 35 minutes to complete a 30 question test. All team members must complete the test individually within 3 hours. Scoring: the sum of the top three individual scores on each team make up the team score. Scoring on individual tests are as follows:
- +10 points for each correct answer
- -5 points for each incorrect answer
- 0 points for each unanswered question
The top three teams will receive a cash prize and certificates of completion. Additionally, the 1st place team in the state will have the opportunity to represent Florida during the National Personal Finance Challenge in May 2018 at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City.
