Teacher Testimonials
Thank you to all FCEE Teachers!
The FCEE would like to send out a thank you to the nearly 5,000 teachers that are part of the FCEE network. Together, we can all make a difference in securing a bright future for our students. Below are just a few of the comments we have received from teachers...
The programs sponsored by FCEE have enriched the education of both my students and myself. I love to have the resources to use in the classroom and the contests encourage my students to work hard!

The Governor's Awards Ceremony has inspired me to do more in the area of Social Studies. I am a 2nd grade teacher and while Reading, Writing, and Math, and Science are our main focus, I am encouraged to plan more economics in my lessons along with those subject areas because our economy does effect our children, even at their young age.

"Information I have gained has been used in our recruiting processes to help young adults understand the options they have after high school and the importance of postsecondary education. In this critical time of education budget shortfalls, every new student to pTEC represents income to help with our budget issues. If students could comprehend the value of career education and be exposed to opportunities through programs such as FCEE offers, than our classrooms would be full year round. We welcome every chance we have to further educate students, parents, and the community about the benefits of career."

"I believe that Financial Literacy is one of the most important subjects that I teach in my math classes. The FCEE program has helped me to organize my finance studies into a program that I call "Financial Fridays."

"I was excited about being invited to attend the FCEE Govenor's Awards. This was the first year that I have participated in the event. It was thriling to hear about all the different projects that educatators
had incorporated into their curriculum. I have shared several of them with teachers at my school to spark interest in incorporating them into the student's curriculum or afterschool clubs. If you establish a good sense of economics in the children when they are young the benefits will stay with them for a lifetime. I hope to improve and expand my banking project and be able to submit again next year. I also am looking forward to my trip to the Keys, since I was one of the lucky door prize winners. I enjoyed having lunch with some of the sponsors of the event. As a teacher, the event helped me feel appreciated and someone recognized that what teachers do in the classrooms counts for something. I hope that this is a program that will continue to recognize the efforts of the hardworking classroom teachers in Florida. Thank you again for a wonderful day."

"I was participating in a class through USFand the Pinellas County Education Foundation. One of the requirements of the class was to develop a project that had an economics theme. I thought, Oh boy, what am I going to do? I work with exceptional students on the high school level and we did a class project that required them to use not only economics, but math, language arts and geography. The students had to plan, and develop a trip or vacation with there family in Florida or they could pick another state. I submitted for my project an example of one of the student's project. I attended the local recognition for Pinellas educators and was then asked if I wanted my project submitted to the Governor's awards in Orlando. When I received the invitation to attend the lucheon at Seaworld, I was surprised and very excited to be recognitized by such as great organization. Just the thought of being able to attend such a wonderful event that recognizes educators, was something that I had never experienced in my 23years of teaching. It was great to see all of the other teachers through out the state who do awesome things with students of all ages. The Governor's Awards is a very special way that teachers are honored for doing the job they love. Working with students and encouraging them to always work to their fulliest potential is a reward in itself. I didn't win any awards, but I got a chance to have a fun day at Seaworld as well. This is a worth while way to show teachers that the state of Florida really cares. We don't get that recognition as often as we should. A simple thank you is always nice too. Keep the dollars coming to support activities like the Governor"s Awards, so that teachers like myself know they are appreciated from time to time."

"The Financial Freedom workbook is a great way to teach and make students aware of financial planning and management.
My students love the Strive to Drive Program. I think the reason they enjoy it so much is because it deals with a car and it is a game like activity. As for me the teacher, I feel as though this program teaches the value of a dollar, responsibility, and that the financial decisions they make will influence their lives."

"The Governor's Awards was extremely enjoyable and well-executed. Every teacher I spoke with expressed gratitude about being treated so well. From the door prizes to the food to the theme park, there was something for everyone! "

"I would like to personally thank everyone who had a part in the Governor's Award program. It was out of this world to have leaders in our community treat educators with so much respect. It was amazing to hear all the excellent programs that other teachers have designed to support the economic outlook of our future leaders. "

"My students were very excited to be able to compete in the business plan competition, and I was honored to win the Governor's Award for the virtual economies category. Teachers don't get much recognition for the hard work they do, and this award means a great deal to me. The money is nice, but the recognition and public ceremony mean even more to me. Thank you so much."
